Is it worth saving energy if "everything is fine"?It has huge reserves of oil and gas, large hydroelectric plants and many nuclear reactors. Is it really not enough? It's enough, but you still need to save because...
The International Day of Energy Saving was created relatively recently, on November 11, 2008. The initiator of the holiday was the environmental network "School Project on the Use of Resources and Energy".
It seems that the children have invented a holiday for themselves, let them have fun, adults are not interested in this.In fact, the holiday was not invented by children, but by adults and responsible people who care about the fate of humanity and the planet.
Unfortunately, not all of us see the need to save energy, so it is very important that the initiator of Energy Saving Day was a school project. If children understand why they save energy, then in the future they will not have to convince adults about the importance of taking care of resources.
And yet - why? What does saving energy give us?
1. Money
Everything is simple with money. We use less energy - we pay less for it.Perhaps someone will grimace contemptuously: "Here, counting meager amounts!"But this is only one of the advantages of saving energy.
2. Comfort
A significant part of energy costs is spent on maintaining a comfortable temperature at home and in the office. In winter - for heating, in summer - for air conditioning.
A properly configured air conditioning system not only uses energy efficiently, but also keeps the "weather in the house" comfortable. In winter no one freezes, in summer no one faints from shortness of breath.
3. Nature
The share of "green" renewable sources in global energy production is constantly increasing. But the volumes of "clean" energy will not soon match those we obtain by burning gas, coal and petroleum products.
By burning hydrocarbons, we release into the atmosphere a huge amount of substances harmful to all living beings, from which not only we suffer, but also our animals, rivers, forests and lakes.
The less energy we use, the less dirt gets into nature, the better our health, the more lush our forests and the cleaner our waters. The more often our children will be able to see a rabbit, a stork or a roe deer not through the bars of the zoo, but on a forest path, through the window of a train or a car.
4. Climate
Not a day goes by without the media reporting on another hurricane, catastrophic heat wave, flood or drought.Scientists blame this on global warming and link it to the increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the planet's atmosphere.
One of the most powerful pollutants of the atmosphere with carbon dioxide is energy.By reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, we can stop negative climate processes.
Let the skeptics argue that nothing has really been proven that it is possible that the increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases is not a cause but a consequence of warming. Is this a reason to refuse something that could harm our planet? Is it too dangerous to wait for reliable confirmation?Who will wait for them and who will need them if the point of no return is passed?Certainly not us and not us.
5. Economy and technology
The lower the energy costs of production, the lower its price, the higher the competitiveness of our goods, the more efficient the economy.
Efficient energy consumption stimulates scientific thought and the development of modern technologies.Does anyone remember when American cars stopped running gas on the highways? After the first energy crisis in 1973
The latest technologies provide technological leadership, make products even more competitive and increase the country's economic and military security.
6. Children
We all work, have fun, argue about politics and rush up the career ladder. But we live for the sake of our children, right?
The less we use the planet's resources, the more will be left for our children and grandchildren.Isn't it worth saving energy just for that?
